Jim Baum

Jim Baum is a seasoned CEO and board member with a rich history of leadership in the technology industry. With over three decades of experience in product, go-to-market, and general management within the software and computer systems sectors, Jim is passionate about the practical application of technology to transform businesses and markets.

Currently, Jim is actively involved as a board member, advisor, mentor, and teacher. Alongside his role at PhysicsX, he contributes to the growth and development at both DataStax and Paperless Parts though his service as a board member. Jim has served on numerous other high-growth tech company boards including Project 44, Dyn, EnerNoc, and NS1. Jim also serves as a Senior Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Business. Outside the corporate realm, Jim is a Trustee Emeritus at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and volunteers as a pilot for Angel Flight NE.

Jim has held senior executive roles in several high-growth technology companies including Netezza (CEO), Endeca (CEO), Dyn (Chairman), and PTC. He was one of the early employees of Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), joining prior to its IPO and taking on a diverse set of challenges over an 11-year period. Serving PTC in roles including product management, engineering, marketing, and sales, Jim spent his last years with PTC defining the company’s product lifecycle management strategy as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of its Windchill Business Unit. During his tenure at PTC, Jim helped grow the company to more than $1 billion in revenue.
