London, November 12, 2025 — Chris Wigley, former CEO of Genomics England and COO of QuantumBlack, has joined PhysicsX as Chief Operating Officer. The appointment strengthens PhysicsX’s leadership team as the company enters its next phase of global growth following its $135M Series B round.
Wigley brings deep experience in building and scaling technology organizations at the intersection of AI, science, and industry. At Genomics England, he launched the world’s first nationwide whole genome sequencing diagnostics platform. Earlier, he helped scale QuantumBlack from 20 to 800 people during its acquisition and integration into McKinsey & Company. Most recently, Wigley was the Founder & CEO of Aneira Health, applying AI and genomics to advance women’s health.
At PhysicsX, Wigley will lead global commercial expansion, drive operational scale, and support the continued development and deployment of the company’s AI-native platform for engineering and manufacturing.
“Joining PhysicsX at this pivotal moment is a truly thrilling opportunity,” said Wigley. “I’ve spent my career bridging technical innovation, operations, and people-centred growth, and PhysicsX’s mission — to embed AI across the product lifecycle in strategic sectors like aerospace, semiconductors, automotive, materials, and energy — resonates deeply. I look forward to working with Jacomo, Robin, and the team to accelerate global traction, build enduring partnerships, and ensure that our technology delivers real-world impact for our customers and for society.”
The appointment comes amid a global shift as AI moves from experimentation to scaled deployment across industrial and manufacturing sectors. Wigley’s experience leading complex technology organizations positions him to help PhysicsX connect deep technical excellence with strong global execution.
“Chris brings exactly the commercial leadership, operational discipline and global perspective that PhysicsX needs as we scale,” said Jacomo Corbo, CEO & Co-Founder of Physics. “Our technology is already transforming how engineering gets done across advanced industries, but the opportunity has only just begun. With Chris on board, we’re positioned to accelerate adoption, deepen customer value, and build a world-class operating engine.”
"PhysicsX is unlocking a new engineering paradigm. They’re not just accelerating the industrial innovation — they’re empowering engineers to solve problems that were previously beyond human reach,” said Laura Connell, Partner at Atomico. “We’re proud to partner with the team and are very excited to keep broadening a best-in-class leadership team to scale the business globally.”
As part of this evolution, Alexander Dreismann, former Chief Operating Officer of PhysicsX, will transition to the role of Chief Strategy Officer, continuing to lead long-term growth initiatives.
Founded in 2019 by former Formula 1 engineering leaders and AI pioneers, PhysicsX is building a new software stack designed to make engineering and manufacturing truly AI-native. Its platform empowers engineers to explore vastly larger design spaces, optimize complex systems in record time, and accelerate hardware innovation across strategic industries. The company’s recent $135M Series B funding round, led by Atomico, is fueling global expansion, driving industrial adoption of its platform, and supporting the development of larger, more powerful physics foundation models.
