New multi-year agreement will deepen the companies' collaboration across real-world industrial challenges, from mining operations to research and development.

Singapore — 27 October 2026 — PhysicsX, a frontier AI company transforming industrial engineering, and Fortescue, a global metals, energy, and technology company building and deploying renewable energy and zero-emissions technologies at industrial scale, today announced an expanded strategic partnership to accelerate industrial innovation through frontier AI.

Building on more than two years of collaboration, the new agreement establishes PhysicsX as a key AI technology and innovation partner to Fortescue. The partnership will extend beyond its initial focus on R&D to address a broader range of real-world challenges across Fortescue's mining and metals operations, with the aim of delivering immediate operational value, as well as accelerating the development of new technologies supporting the company's ambitions for a zero-emissions future.

At the center of the collaboration is the PhysicsX platform, which combines Large Physics Models (LPMs), advanced simulation capabilities, and AI-powered engineering applications. Trained on simulation and experimental data, LPMs learn the behavior of complex physical systems, enabling engineers to predict performance and identify optimal solutions at speeds far beyond conventional simulation methods — throughout the product lifecycle.

Across the mining and metals value chain, the interplay of materials, equipment, and operating conditions creates complex challenges. Spanning everything from atomic-level material interactions to entire industrial systems, the PhysicsX platform brings a new level of intelligence to engineering problems of every scale, connecting insights to drive faster, more informed decisions. Combined with Fortescue's operational knowledge and data, these capabilities will support teams to improve current operations and accelerate the development of new products, processes, and technologies.

PhysicsX will work alongside Fortescue's engineering and technology teams to integrate the platform into existing workflows, build internal expertise, and embed physics AI into long-term industrial innovation.

Jacomo Corbo, CEO and Co-founder, PhysicsX, said:

“Fortescue is tackling some of the hardest engineering challenges in industry. Solving problems of this magnitude demands fundamentally new approaches to engineering. Our ambition is to put frontier intelligence in the hands of Fortescue's teams, enabling them to solve problems that would previously have been prohibitively expensive or time-consuming to tackle. We're building a long-term technology partnership that goes beyond individual applications, embedding physics AI into the way industrial innovation happens. The progress we've made together gives us enormous confidence in what we can achieve next.”

Ellie Coates, Director AI and IT, Fortescue, said:

“Fortescue has a strong track record of deploying new technologies at scale, from autonomy to AI. In 2020, we completed one of the largest autonomous haulage fleet conversions in the industry, showing what can be achieved when new technology is deployed at scale in a live mining operation.

We are bringing that same ambition to AI, which is critical to Fortescue’s future. We see significant potential in applying physics AI to high-value industrial problems across our business.

This partnership is focused on solving real-world challenges, from improving production and operations to accelerating research and development. By combining PhysicsX’s capabilities with our operational experience and data, we can test solutions faster and focus on applications with the potential to deliver practical value and strong returns.”

The agreement reflects a broader shift in industrial AI, from general-purpose tools focused on information and workflow automation toward technologies capable of understanding and optimizing real-world critical systems.
